So if I had to choose my top selection, it would be the grey, it’s true. The blue one with all the colored bits on the arms is an interesting concept, but seeing it on the page doesn’t move me. The grey, however? It looks better with the contrasting print and really works with jeans. I mean well, not just so-so. I am undecided about the pink, but if you like all three or even just one, how about you hunt a shirt down for yourself? Brooklyn Circus made these in the U.S. from Japanese fabric, and according to Hypebeast, their trunk show in San Francisco will be held from 5-9 p.m. this Friday. More designs coming in May! With the royal wedding now less than 10 days away, there is no escaping the fact that “tying the knot” season is officially upon us. As a woman who eloped to San Francisco in order to bolt up the stairs of City Hall in stiletto boots and a tight wool skirt, I am not sure that I am the best judge of nuptial or even photo-friendly fashion. I can attest to the fact that a wedding is so much more fun when you are totally in your skin and every fiber of your being is in tune with the one you are uniting with. If I were to do it all over again, I might consider donning an exquisitely handcrafted gown by knitwear designer, Julia Ramsey. The word is out by now that I have a real love affair with gorgeous textiles, and Julia's couture creations speak as designs that celebrate fiber innovation and elemental beauty.
I discovered Julia Ramsey's work during my last visit to the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, where this strikingly talented designer is currently enjoying a guest residency. With the mantra that "knitwear can be architecture for the body at its finest," I was smitten with Julia's cleverly seamless, body-hugging philosophy.
Enough of the corseted Duchesse satin gowns that become relics in one's closet after a blowout affair – I love that Julia's designs aim to "build a foundation" with fabrics and techniques that intelligently seduce while also highlighting the best of a woman's attributes. Her Knitted Bridal Collection exudes a romantic, antique air but for an unfettered bride who might just forego the lace veil – or heels, for that matter.
All of Julia's gowns are resourcefully custom knit and embellished with luxurious materials such as antique ribbons, delicate strands of pearls, and silk embroidery thread. Her adventurous design spirit is artistically reinforced by her other endeavors which include historic, sculptural knitwear projects, patterned textile experiments, as well as whimsical illustrations. She also revealed that a new collection will be launched later this spring – something that will add a new dimension to her current repertoire.

Nike is going to be launched two version of ACG Air Moc LT slip-on style soon with a contrasting white waffle fill outsole, one version features an orange upper with aqua blue lining and matching tongue and heel tabs while another features a green upper with navy lining and matching tabs. Both pair will be available soon through select Nike stockists.

Last Wednesday, we have been invited to an opening cocktail by the brand Replay in Corso Vittorio Emanuele. To coincide with the Design Week 2011, Replay celebrated the first birthday of its famous store in Milan with an environmental installation designed by the architect duo, Studiomobile. The HydroCobweb, this is the name, is a reconception of nature, a large biotic machine suspended in air that fills the areas of the Replay Store like an enormous spider web suspended between its green walls. Like a living organism, it has a central part consisting of a large Plexiglass sphere where florescent lighting heats seawater which evaporates and condenses in the walls as fresh water. The desalinated and mineralised water feeds satellite pods containing plants grown using hydroponics technology. The installation remains open until April 27th. Studiomobile studies the interaction between technology and the environment. It works in Italy and abroad on research projects in collaboration with multidisciplinary groups. It is currently studying sustainable techniques for desalinating seawater at scientific level.
