Megan Fox Removing Marilyn Monroe Tattoo

Posted: 24 Aug 2011 02:05 AM PDT

Megan Fox 231x340 picture Megan Fox Removing Marilyn Monroe TattooMegan Fox may be an ink-loving celeb, but the actress has one tat she’s ready to ditch.

The 25-year-old has confirmed to Italian magazine Amica that she’s in the process of removing her tattoo of Marilyn Monroe on her right forearm.

“I’m removing it,” Fox tells the mag. “She was a negative person, she was disturbed, bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life.”

Megan, who is removing Marilyn through laser treatments, has nine other tattoos, including a quote honoring her Passion Play costar Mickey Rourke on her ribcage, a tribal tattoo on her left wrist and another quote on her shoulder.

“Who knows, maybe I’ll remove the others too, but the laser hurts,” she added.

Fox also confesses to having removed her belly-button piercing.

“I did it when I was 16-years-old because I was a fan of Britney Spears ,” she says. “The only time I tried to imitate someone else. But then I thought it was tacky and so I removed it when I turned 20.”

Lustables: Pippa Small’s Turquoise Double Greek Ring

Posted: 23 Aug 2011 10:04 PM PDT

A timeless and poetic take on turquoise.

I always thought of turquoise as the carnation of the jewelry world, corny, a little dated and decidedly inelegant. Until I saw Pippa Small's opulent turquoise double Greek ring, that is. Revealing the flawless technique of a master artisan at her best, the richly variated color and exquisite setting imbues the stunning piece with a vibrant aliveness that makes the ring the very essence of lust-worthiness.

Made from either Old Iranian turquoise—which is considered the purest—or American from the old mines of Arizona, the setting is 18 karat yellow gold. Like the maligned carnation, "a moment's ornament" is also a bloom designed to last.

Masters of Style

Posted: 23 Aug 2011 10:01 PM PDT

On Sunday I was fortunate enough to catch the final day of the Masters of Style Exhibition at Somerset House. Masters of Style was curated by Colin McDowell, with the team at Somerset House and was supported by Peroni.

Masters of Style showcased a selection of favourite photographs from 6 big names in Italian Fashion. I found it to be an extraordinary feat to combine all 6, and yet have them complement each other so well. The designers (or Houses) featured were Armani, Dolce and Gabbana, Missoni, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci and Prada.

It was emphasized throughout the exhibition that the selection of photographs were chosen by the designers and then curated. I found it an interesting style that the photographs weren't organised chronologically, but instead in sequences that complemented each other. This could be seen as a comment on the fashion industry, and how it twists and turns throughout the seasons.

In my opinion, the strongest selection of photographs was Armani's. Perhaps this was because the majority of them were in black and white, a constant stylistic feature in their work. This is due to a love of early Hollywood and neo-realist films.

Another interesting point that several of the designers made, was that the show isn't the final stage of the collection's development. Armani stated that looks are chosen after the runway show, as then the impact and effect of each garment is evident. Missoni discussed this in regards to the campaign, that the pieces chosen were chosen before the key pieces of the collection were known, which often led to a battle with the commercial side of the business.

Somerset House has a strong relationship with fashion and art, their exhibition on René Gruau and Dior made this relationship clear. I guess the next fabulous exhibition of fashion at the Somerset House to look forward to will be London Fashion Week in September!

Kate Winslet Saves Richard Branson’s Mum in Fire, Ryan Gosling Breaks Up Fight and Jennifer Garner Pregnant

Posted: 23 Aug 2011 06:19 PM PDT

By Chloe Schneider

Are celebrities the new super heroes? Yesterday two crazy stories emerged, one involving Kate Winslet, Richard Branson, a $ 70 million home and a fire and the other Ryan Gosling, a street fight and New York City! Read on for all the incredible details.
And in celeb baby news, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have just announced they’re expecting.

Kate Winslet Comes to the Rescue
We already knew Kate Winslet was talented, beautiful and kind but a hero? It seems so!
When Richard Branson’s $ 70 million home on the private paradise Necker Island was hit by lightening, it burst into flames, destroying photographs and note books from a second autobiography he was working on.
Luckily, the twenty guests who were staying in the house escaped unharmed, one of whom has Kate Winslet to thank. Branson told CBS, “My mother’s 90 years old and, in order — although she can walk — in order to speed the process up, (Winslet) picked my mother up and carried her, carried her out of the house, and so Kate helped rescue my mother.”
Branson’s 29-year-old daughter, Holly, was planning to marry on Necker island, where celeb couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Manillo married just last month. But business tycoon Branson isn’t letting a little fire get in the way of his positivity saying, “We’ll make sure that Necker Island is back and ready for her wedding so we’ve got something to aim for at Christmas-time this year”, going on, “We have a wonderful staff here and we want them to stay in work. We’ll all stay here. There’s a lot of damage but we’ll create something even more special out of the ruins.”

Ryan Gosling Breaks Up Street Fight in NYC
As if we didn’t swoon over Ryan Gosling enough, he’s now proved himself an everyday hero after stopping a street fight in New York!
It all happened on 8th Street where two arguing men were getting increasingly aggressive and a gathering crowd were trying to tear them apart. In comes 30-year-old Gosling who drops his belongings, jumps in the middle, restrains one of the men, helps to diffuse the situation and calmly escort him away.
Looking seriously buff in a baseball cap, shorts and tank top with his tattoo of ‘The Giving Tree’ book cover exposed, Ryan kept his cool during the whole ordeal and proved himself a peaceful man.
Gosling’s latest film Crazy, Stupid Love is set to be released in Australia on the 29th of September.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Expecting Is it just us or does it feel like there’s a new celebrity baby announcement almost every second day?
We’re super excited to announce this one, the very cool couple Jennifer Garner and Ben Aflleck have just announced they are expecting another baby, their third.
The couple’s daughters Violet, 5, and Seraphina, 2, and the couple have confirmed the rumours, saying they are ‘thrilled’ over the news but have released no further details.
Congrats to Jennifer and Ben!

Tommy Nutter – The Rebel on the Row

Posted: 23 Aug 2011 10:01 AM PDT

Tailor and Cutter are quoted from around 1920 as stating 'A man cannot make love with any conviction unless he is wearing a coat cut within half a mile of Piccadilly'. This indicates Savile Row, the home of bespoke tailoring.

The Fashion and Textile Museum is currently showing an exhibition on Tommy Nutter, or as they call him 'The Rebel on the Row'.  The exhibition is running until the 22nd October. The Fashion and Textile Museum credits Nutter with rejuvenating Savile Row at a time when it was in danger of becoming completely outmoded. This was in the 60s and the time of 'Youthquake', however, as Elton John said 'Tommy totally glamorised Savile Row and made it accessible'.

Tommy Nutter opened his store on Savile Row with Edward Sexton and this pairing was a resounding success. Looking through the exhibition, it is clear why Nutter is now a reference point for many designers. A favourite piece in the exhibition was the red velvet suit that was made for Twiggy, which made me think of the Gucci red velvet suit from A/W 1996-97, a photograph of which was included in Masters of Style.

There are a number of details that highlight a Nutter suit, one is the way he trimmed lapels and pockets with either matching or contrasting grosgrain or satin, immediately drawing the eye and showing that you are looking at something special.

The exhibition has a good selection of suits on show, in a variety of styles which illustrate the versatility of Nutter. The array of fashion illustrations was also interesting to see, along with original patterns. The exhibition was laid out to look like Nutter's shop on Savile Row that had so shocked people of the time. Nutter said 'the only way to go is towards a more tailored look'. I would say the only way to go is to the exhibition on Nutter.
