I’m getting a slight David Bowie vibe here from this spread in Pen magazine with Oskar Tranum. I love unisex and androgynous looks, and this has its moments of gender-bending, with the cheekbones, high color (after the jump), and slim-cut suits. There’s a dandy vibe, with a certain Asian aesthetic to the garments’ drape. Deeply pleated pants with room to spare look elegant with collegiate separates and bookish style… and if you wear glasses, even better.
Oskar wears Giorgio Armani and is styled by Takafumi Kawasaki for Pen. I’m reveling in the obvious ease of movement in these images, the sandals, and the graininess. Ah, to look this easy-going on a daily basis! Fabrics that move are a must—silks, linen blends, and chambray—and don’t forget about lightweight knits. Extra points for said knits being made domestically. Of course, this Pen editorial also gives us good ideas about accessories: tortoiseshell sunglasses from Oliver Peoples, pocket squares, and the occasional scarf ‘n belt combo. The same way that I want to see all of these in black and white, I’d also appreciate viewing them all in color. If you can’t afford Armani, you can cobble together looks starting with a generous pair of trousers from another source. [via the fashionisto]
